Editorial Guidelines
It's our hope that you connect with the mission of Radiant and have something to offer in the way of writing. We post a two to three stories a week on our website (Radiantmag.com) and e-newsletter, and make ongoing print assignments based on our editorial lineup needs. There will be more opportunities to write for the website or e-newsletter, as assignments for the quarterly print magazine are limited. Submission Guidelines:Radiant and Radiantmag.com consist entirely of user-submitted content. Once an article is chosen for use online, the author will receive named credit for the story as well as a bio (which can feature links to blogs, personal websites or book pages). We use only original stories. Writers are responsible for the content of their stories and for getting permission for any quotes outside of fair usage. For the print magazine, once an assignment is made (we make ongoing assignments throughout the year for the quarterly editorial deadline; editorial calendar is below), the article should be emailed by midnight of the deadline given. If the article does not meet deadline or does not meet editorial standards, we reserve the right to refuse payment. Payment is within 45 days of publication of accepted article, and is a flat rate based around .10 a word ($150 for a 1,500-word feature). For print submissions, we buy first-time print rights and all electronic rights to unpublished pieces for six months, non-exclusive rights thereafter. Magazine articles may be featured or excerpted on our website or e-newsletter or reprinted in a book published by RELEVANT Books. Copyright Policy:We reserve the right to modify, use, distribute, reproduce, publish and display online sub-mission indefinitely in all media, means and forms. For web and newsletter articles, the author will relinquish the copyright of their work for six months after it is posted on Radiantmag.com. After that point, we will have non-exclusive rights to the story, and it will remain in our archives. We reserve the right to later print the work in book form. Submissions to the website are on a donation basis (byline and bio are compensation). [Note: Stories can be published as a reprint on Beliefnet.com or Bible.com.] Once you've read over the guidelines and policies, you can submit your article here. Articles will be evaluated for web and print at the same time. If we're able to use your article, we will contact you and discuss where we plan to use it. |
