One of life's simple pleasures is the joy of discovery. For some people, that's finding a new recipe to try, for others its that something fabulous to add to their wardrobe... for me it's finding new music to add to the soundtrack of my life.

So I figured we'd debut Fun Music Friday today on the Pulse. Because what better way to start off your weekend off than with some great tunes. If you have music you'd like to recommend, please post in the comments and we'll feature your suggestions next week!

Bat For Lashes

Hailing from Across the Pond, the British band Bat for Lashes is a must have for your music library. Frontwoman Natasha Khan has such a beautiful, moody voice. And being a fan all of all things sychronized, I can't resist their video for "What's a Girl to Do." Bicyclists, wearing giant furry animal heads and hoodie sweatshirts, disappearing, reappearing and impressively jump in synchronicity - truly awesome!

The Bird and the Bee

If you're a Grey's Anatomy fan, you've definitely heard the Los Angeles-based, indie-pop duo The Bird and the Bee. The band describes their music as a futuristic, 1960's American film set in Brazil, and I think you'll agree that they have a very vintage, ethereal quality. Their title track "Again and Again" is definitely worth a listen.

Pink Martini

Confession, I'm unable to write an objective review of Pink Martini because I'm absolutely in love with their music. Call me biased, but anyone that can pull off a jazzy, orchestral pop is amazing in my book. Sounds like a stretch, I know, but after seeing them live last May I'm a fan for life. Check out their albums Sympathetique and Hang On Little Tomato and see if you don't fall in love, too.

Paulo Nutini

Paulo Nutini's "New Shoes" could very well be my theme song because it's so bright and happy. And what girl doesn't love new shoes? Slipping into a pair of new shoes puts a spring in your step and a gleam in your eye. But the rest of Paulo's album These Streets is definitely worth a listen with highlights including "Jenny Don't Be Hasty," "These Streets" and "Last Request."

Well that's it for this Friday. Hopefully by sampling some of the videos above you'll find a track to add to your soundtrack. Have a great weekend!
